BIFO OPENS THE SEASON WITH CARMINA BURANA ON OCTOBER 16!
The Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra (BIPO) will perform the opening concert for the season 2012-2013 at Lütfi Kırdar International Congress and Exhibition Center on Tuesday, October 16. The orchestra will perform Carmina Burana, the famous work of Carl Orff, under the baton of Sascha Goetzel, BIFO’s art director and permanent conductor.
This piece, which was composed by German composer Carl Orff in 1936 and whose lyrics are based on poems written in the 11th, 12nd and 13rd centuries, has been used extensively in ballet performances and film soundtracks. For the performance of one of the public’s best-loved oratorios, Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra is welcoming guest soprano Ruth Ziesak, famous for her roles in Mozart’s operas and one of Europe’s most admired sopranos who has given countless concerts in Germany and Austria backed by leading orchestras and conductors. Other star soloists at the concert will be countertenor Vasily Koroshev and baritone Eralp Kıyıcı. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism State Polyphonic Choir will be lead by Cemi'i Can Deliorman.
