BORUSAN LOJİSTİK GOES FULL SAIL! ANOTHER CONTRIBUTION TO SAILING FROM BORUSAN LOJİSTİK

Attracting attention with its support for the development of sailing in Turkey, Borusan Lojistik has added a new chapter to its work. Borusan Lojistik is sponsoring the sailboat Relax, which took part in the Vakko Sailing Cup ‘06 Bosporus Race on July 8 and which will be participating in the TAKY / Naval Force Cup Morning Open Sea Yacht Races between July 14-17. The boat’s eight-person team also includes Borusan Lojistik Deputy General Manager Umur Özkal. 

July 14, 2006, Istanbul: Borusan Lojistik continues to provide support for the sport of sailing, which plays a very important role in the development of seafaring in Turkey. The corporation is sponsoring the sailboat Relax, which took part in the Vakko Sailing Cup ‘06 Bosporus Race on July 8 and which will be participating in the TAKY / Naval Force Cup Morning Open Sea Yacht Races between July 14-17. 

Together with a group of 20 optimistic enthusiasts, Borusan Lojistik supported the reopening of the Gemlik Sailing Club and provided all the equipment needed in order to popularize sailing in Gemlik and to contribute to the development of social life. Its support for increasing the club’s training capacity and competitiveness continues this year. 

Sponsored by Borusan Lojistik, Relax stands out for her performance on the sea. Last year, Relax, led by a team of eight, including academics and business women, came first in the circuit category at the Istanbul Sailing Club Races. The boat was ranked third in the circuit category at the Naval Force Cup last year. 

The AKY / Naval Force Cup Morning Open Sea Yacht Races, which will take place between July 14-17 are organized in line with the 2006 race program of the Turkish Open Seas Race Club. 

Borusan Lojistik Deputy General Manager Umur Özkal, owner of the 12m cruise sailboat Relax, said that the interest in sailing has increased day by day and that competition has become much more enjoyable with the participation of new boats. Özkal continued; 

“Borusan Lojistik Gemlik Port bears the responsibility of being the gateway of all the industrial and commercial establishments in South Marmara as it opens up to the world. We will continue to support this sport which we believe greatly contributes to the love for seafaring and maritime activities in our country, especially among young people. It’s a great feeling to compete in harmony with nature’s two great forces of the sea and the wind, and be a part of a team all focused on the same goal.”
