Borusan Kültür Sanat is preparing to enter the 2013-2014 season again with a rich program of innovative events. In addition to concerts and recitals by star soloists of the classical music world to celebrate Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra’s (BİFO) 15th anniversary, an exciting program has been prepared including a series of concerts in which BİFO and Rudolf Buchbinder will perform Beethoven’ entire repertoire of piano sonatas. Meanwhile, Borusan Quartet, Turkey’s best string quartet, will continue its seasonal concerts at Süreyya Opera House. During the 2013-2014 season, Borusan Kültür Sanat will move to the Borusan Concert Hall building, which has been hosting music performances ranging from classical to contemporary, jazz to electronic since 2010. Borusan Concert Hall will continue to host original projects that will contribute to Istanbul’s music life.

Borusan Kültür Sanat General Manager Ahmet Erenli gave a statement expressing the organization’s happiness at being able to unite music lovers in Istanbul with world famous soloists during the 2013-2014 season in which the 15th anniversary of BİFO, the driving engine behind Borusan Kültür Sanat, will be celebrated. “Being able to listen to Roberto Alagna in Istanbul would have been a long stretch a few years ago. However, in the last few years, BİFO has become a young and powerful orchestra able to accompany world-class star soloists. Now in its 15th year, BİFO will share the stage with extraordinary names ranging from Roberto Alagna to Murray Perahia, Rudolf Buchbinder to Nicola Benedetti. At Borusan Kültür Sanat, we are delighted to be able to offer a festival program that will delight classical music lovers throughout the season.”

Entering its fifth season with permanent conductor and art director Sascha Goetzel at the lead, BİFO will appear in front of audiences with all the dynamism of a carefully prepared program. One of the most captivating features of the orchestra’s 15th anniversary celebration is the emphasis on Ludwig van Beethoven’s work.

Roberto Alagna, the French tenor with Sicilian origins and one of the most talked about individuals of the opera world with his success and vibrant private life, is the biggest surprise on the line-up this season, appearing with piano duo Güher and Süher Pekinel, who have achieved an undisputed reputation for successes both at home and overseas. Also performing with BİFO during the 2013-2014 season will be Murray Perahia, one of the most admired pianists of all time who has graced the stage for nearly forty years and is a must-see in the concert halls, Rudolf Buchbinder, who won the Echo Klassik Award for his record featuring 32 of Beethoven’s piano sonatas, Markus Schirmer, who enchants listeners whenever he steps in front of the piano, Christian Tetzlaff, who creates his own world on stage with his violin, and violin virtuoso Nicola Benedetti and cellist Leonard Elschenbroich, one of the classical music world’s most famous couples. Meanwhile some of the most prominent names of the season are Alexei Volodin, huge star of the Russian school of piano, violinist Valeriy Sokolov, who, despite his young age, has received great acclaim from critics with his strong performances, pianist Anna Vinnitskaya, who has scooped up many awards including the Diapason d’Or and an Echo Klassik, and “The Prodigy” Alexander Gavrylyuk, who creates excitement with every note of the piano.
