We have many activities within the framework of our management culture that are focused on human improvement and strategy of participatory management.

We develop platforms so that all our employees can be a part of the company and systematically express their ideas to support the improvement of our company, accordingly enabling us to evaluate these ideas and realize those that are applicable.

We constantly update the requests of our employees by means of planned meetings, kiosks in our work areas, and employee satisfaction surveys.

We prioritize the creation of a safer and healthy work environment for our customers and suppliers, and aim to reach our “zero occupational accidents” target. Accordingly we utilize effective OHS practices, such as performance measurement, training, drills and infrastructure improvements, and constantly improve our occupational health and safety performance.

In line with our transparency and accountability principles, we effectively use the specific communication mechanisms for all shareholder groups, and carry out practices to increase participation of shareholders with decision-making mechanisms and voluntary social responsibility activities. We develop specific communication channels mainly for employees as well as customers, the business world, the media and other specified target groups, and conduct communication and participation activities whose frequency varies depending on the quality of the shareholder group, in line with the strategic communication approach developed to achieve a permanent and healthy balance with shareholders.

At Borusan Lojistik, we aim for the continuity and excellence of profitability through effective and lean processes. In order to achieve excellence in process management, we implement the Lean 6 Sigma Management Method. Thanks to the projects conducted as part of Lean 6 Sigma, we make improvements to hundreds of processes each year in parallel with the expectations of our customers, and assess ourselves based on the evaluation criteria of our customers in each process.

While committing ourselves to delivering our products and services to customers in the safest way, we implement safety applications that are beyond the legal requirements in all our service departments. Additionally, we constantly conduct improvement activities in order to improve the available systems and develop new ones.

While aiming to develop products and services that are environmentally-friendly, efficient, and provide the best benefit for users, we apply the environmental practices to minimize the use of natural resources, waste production, energy consumption and our carbon footprint. We never compromise on our sensitivity for green in the operations we perform, and we define ourselves as a “Green Player in a Gray Industry”. We have imported rotor blade adaptor technology to transport huge rotor blades that are taller than 60m while respecting the environment. Thanks to such technology that enables us to transport blades at a 50-degree angle from the ground and by turning them 110 degrees to the right/left, we have eliminated the need for disturbing the environment to a significant extent.

On the other hand, we aim to plant 1,000,000 trees as part of the “7 Tree Forests” protocol program we signed with ÇEKÜL in 2011. In line with the campaign, we commenced by planting seven trees for each employee annually. When each employee has a birthday, gets married, or welcomes the birth of a new child, we celebrate the occasion by planting a tree. We also ensure our business partners are indirectly participating in the campaign. We plant one tree in the 7 Trees Forests for every 10 runs and every 10 containers handled. We are continuing our journey of “We can’t get enough green” under the hashtag “#BirYerdenBaşla”.

Our project called “Quick Card” carried out with our suppliers allows us to make a sales of 24 million liters of fuel annually. In this way, we prevent 33,294 metric tons of CO2 being emitted into the environment each year.

We reduce our carbon footprint thanks to the efficiency projects we carry out at Borusan Port. We have reduced our CO2 emissions by 94% with the RTG electricity energy conversion project. This allows us to save about 6,000 trees a year, and meet the oxygen needs of 12,000 people. Through our LED conversion project

we have switched to the LED system by changing all the fixtures and fittings at our port. Thus we save 1.2 million kWh of energy annually. As of the end of 2016 we have started to achieve additional savings of 1.5 million kWh by implementing the second phase of our project. Besides this, as a result of other recycling and improvements, we save an additional 13,000 trees by applying heat treatment on 3,000mtrees a year, and meet the annual oxygen needs of another 25,000 people.

We successfully passed TSEL’s inspections where all green steps we have taken at Borusan Port were evaluated and were awarded with “Green Port” certification.

Through the electronic transport network ETA project, we provide significant advantages to SMEs via the internet, and to transporters via mobile technology. Thanks to the system, truckers are provided with business continuity, cost advantages and efficiency, while SMEs are provided with reliable, insured, cost-effective, and 24/7 trackable transportation services.

We have developed Bukoli, a flexible and reliable delivery model to offer a solution to transportation problems experienced in online shopping. With Bukoli we eliminate the problems that consumers have waiting for their orders at home or in the office. Consumers instead receive their orders at a pre-selected point. While e-commerce companies gain trust and a new delivery option with Bukoli, shopkeepers get the chance to earn additional income and reach out to neighborhood residents.

When looking for optimization and solutions, enabling productivity growth through short and long-term gains comes to mind. We elevate this standard approach one step higher, and design systems that can continue the improvement and optimization cycle on their own.
